Education that Works . . . World WideSupport the Future and Receive a Piece of the Past with Free Currier and Ives Prints
The Genesis Historical Foundation was organized in 1984 by a group of eight individuals with an interest in and goal of ". . . preserving the histories of generations." They established five focus areas, or "Projects", in which The Foundation would work: Genealogy, Oral History, Gathering and Preservation of Personal Artifacts, Implementation of Technology in Education, and Literacies and the Development of Curriculum.
Working almost exclusively with volunteers, Genesis has developed a genealogical database program, accumulated in excess of 100 hours of in-situ video taped interviews, prepared thousands of dollars in grants applications for small public school districts, and coordinated several gifts of books and small collections of memorabilia and artifacts to schools and libraries for educational purposes.
In 1991, Genesis began researching an educational program which would combine the theoretical knowledge from "academic" curricula with the practical knowledge of so-called "vocational" subjects. The result is the program now known as Integrated Vocational Education."
